Analysts and strategy teams

Use AI to structure research, compare scenarios, and produce clearer memos and recommendations.

15 minutes to try / includes a prompt, worked example, and review checklist

Who it is for

People comparing options, summarizing research, and helping decisions land.

What you should get

  • Summarize research quickly
  • Compare options with context
  • Write better decision memos

The walkthrough

Compare options without hiding uncertainty.

01

Build an evidence pack

Gather dated source extracts, the decision criteria, and known constraints. Label estimates separately from observed results. An AI summary is not a substitute for the original source.

02

Compare against shared criteria

Use the prompt to build a comparison. Ask where the conclusion depends on an assumption. Recalculate numbers in a spreadsheet or another reliable tool.

03

Write a conditional recommendation

Explain the tradeoff and which evidence would change the decision. Include source references so the reviewer can trace the reasoning.

Your starting prompt

Context: Our team is comparing options using the evidence below.
Role: Act as a skeptical decision analyst.
Objective: Help a decision maker understand the tradeoffs and unresolved questions.
Format: Comparison table, conditional recommendation, evidence gaps, and next checks.
Tone: Neutral and specific.
Constraints: Use only supplied facts. Do not invent savings, performance data, or security claims. Separate evidence from inference. Show what would change the recommendation.

Sample input

Option A: two-week setup, $200 monthly, manual export. Option B: six-week setup, $350 monthly, scheduled export. Team capacity is limited this month. Reliable scheduled exports would reduce recurring manual work. Security review has not been completed for either option.

Illustrative output

                 OPTION A OPTION B
Setup 2 weeks 6 weeks
Monthly cost $200 $350
Export Manual Scheduled
Security review Not completed Not completed

Conditional assessment
A may fit near-term capacity. B may reduce recurring export work.
Neither is ready for approval without the security review.

Evidence gaps
Hours spent on exports today; implementation effort;
required controls; integration compatibility.

Example for learning. Your AI tool may produce a different draft; check it against your source.

Keep the judgment human
